A Beauty Editor’s Honest Review

In our Trial Run series, TZR editors and writers test the hottest new beauty products and share their honest reviews. This week, our writer tries out the new Macrene Actives High Performance Eye Cream.

I’ll be honest with the bunch here – for a very long time I thought eye creams were some kind of trash. I know. After a decade as a beauty editor who spoke to countless dermatologists and estheticians, I still found myself asking, “Yeah, but do I really need a?”

This was especially true as I got older and realized that my skin responded better to a simpler skincare regimen. The least amount of products with the least ingredients resulted in a happier, shinier epidermis that was less prone to breakouts. So, was I really going to open another jar and dab something that was basically extra creamy moisturizer under my eyes? No – no, I wasn’t, actually. So I’d just slather my usual moisturizer under my eyes and go. But then I had the opportunity to test the new eye cream from Dr Macrene Alexiadesa renowned dermatologist in New York (who also helped me on my back acne journey) to see if her formula could convince me if this type of product is a must for my skincare routine. a 32-year-old woman.

My skin

Over the past year or so my eyes have felt slightly, shall we say, stopped. They’re tighter and drier, and since my 30th birthday, I’ve noticed more fine lines popping up in the area every time I smile. Now, I’m not one to fear the signs of aging. To me, the crow’s feet that have started to appear are just an indicator that I’ve laughed a lot in my life, and is that really something to feel bad about?

Drought, however, is another story. By noon, my eyes were so dry they were starting to itch. If my mascara smudged down my lower lashes, it would settle in my fine lines and be harder to remove. So after years of skepticism, I thought it might be time to give an eye cream a try.

Macrene Actives High Performance Eye Cream

Enter the Macrene Actives High Performance Eye Cream, which will launch on October 3. The formula claims to help depuff while hydrating, firming and diminishing the appearance of fine lines. How does he do this? It uses ingredients like hyaluronic acids, jojoba, glycerin, and peptides to firm and hydrate your eyes. The caffeine and squalene deflate and also help restore the skin’s moisture barrier.

According to Dr. Alexiades, using the eye cream twice a day is intended to replace the need for cosmetic injectables, which means your eyes will be so bright that there is no need to explore more invasive treatment options. And while hydration is what I was really looking for, if I could reduce my Botox bill, I would take that as icing on the cake.

First impression

Every morning and night, after washing my face, applying my toner, and using serums, I applied my eye cream. I pat it along my eye and up to my eyelid then around my orbital bone, using my ring finger with very little pressure. (Really, despite all my whining about adding an extra step to my sparse routine, it took 30 seconds.)

I loved the feel of the formula right from the start. It’s a thicker, richer cream than your average moisturizer, but it melted into my skin pretty quickly. And while it didn’t leave a residue, if you wear concealer under your eyes during the day, you might want to give it a few minutes before applying it, because it’s Great moisturizer and it could cause your foundation products to slip.

General Thoughts on Macrene Actives High Performance Eye Cream

Since I’ve only been using it for a few weeks, I haven’t seen a big difference in my fine lines, but my eyes feel so much more hydrated day to day. I’ve also noticed that my eyes aren’t as puffy when I wake up in the morning, which is a nice little improvement. I also don’t feel the tightness and dryness that I used to feel with my eyes.

In fact, I was traveling for a wedding recently and forgot to pack my moisturizer and face wash, so I switched brands in a panic. My skin panic out – I was dry and bursting from my cheeks down. The only part of my skin that felt hydrated? My under eyes, thanks to this eye contour cream.

Macrene Actives High Performance Eye Cream retails for $135, but since a little goes a long way, it’ll last you long enough. And if it lives up to its claims and allows you to postpone your injection appointments, for a few months or indefinitely, it’s a money saver. As for me, I will continue to use it, morning and night, to keep my eyes hydrated and depuffed. It’s worth the extra step in my skincare routine – and that’s saying something.
