Color changing concealer claims to treat acne and match skin pigments

Here is a transcript of the video.

Nico Reyes: Wearing masks certainly made me pop more than usual, but the other day I got an Instagram ad for it. It’s the August + Monroe 3-in-1 Blemish Camouflage, and it’s basically like a concealer that’s supposed to prime, conceal, and heal skin blemishes. He’s got these bursting pigment beads that supposedly match the pigment in your skin, so you know I’m calling a few friends to see if that’s actually true.

So this is what my skin looks like today, I definitely have some redness and rash that might need some coverage so I’m going to focus the product on that. I kind of want to test this on my hand first, just to see what we’re working with.

I’m just wiping the back of my hand with a makeup wipe just to show you there’s a pigment burst. I’m not sure whether this pigment matches my skin tone or not, but it’s there. There is certainly color.

I don’t have any face makeup right now, just my eye makeup and a bit of lip gloss, but I’m going to apply some moisturizer because she says it’s going to help the product come off. melt more easily.

So, now is the time to start applying. Let’s start here. I feel like my most noticeable acne is on this side so I’m just going to take a little bit of it, like, sprinkle the areas where I need help the most, then blend in a circular motion. It’s not, like, full coverage, some sort of Tarte Shape Tape cover-up. I think it’s just to alleviate the discoloration, the redness, whatever you’re trying to cover up.

It doesn’t look so bad actually. Why did it look so pink on the back of my hand, but on my face it doesn’t look too terrible? The texture of this one is almost slightly grainy, and I think that’s because of those “pigment shine beads”. I think it helps. OKAY.

[laughs]

I have to be specific because while it doesn’t give me as much coverage as I think I would have liked, I didn’t expect it to be very full coverage, but I just think I expected a little more. That’s not really good. And honestly, it blends in better with my skin color than I expected.

I have the impression that the concealer aspect is much better at covering the darkness than the redness. Like, I just feel like the redness is showing up in the mirror, when the darkness is actually getting better. I wonder how this is going to work out for AC and Jensen.

AC Fowler: So, I’ll show you all of my buttons. I got one just for that, literally. And then I have other dark spots. There is a dark spot here.

The only way it’s going to blend in on my face is if it’s lotion.

[laughs]

That’s what I feel. I don’t see how this will capture the richness of my skin tone.

OK, is something going on?

I just added one more touch just to see if it really worked, but I think it changes color a bit, but as you can see it’s still, like, ashy, like, you can see sort of grouped into my favorites. The beard line is still quite white there. And so I don’t think so, it doesn’t change for my color, the color of my skin. So, I don’t really think I can call it a blanket. It looks like ash.

The good news is they say they are testing new lines, so hopefully that will happen. But for now, that’s all I have.

Jensen Rubinstein: I usually have hormonal acne, and now, especially with the mask and the mask, I have even more of it on my chin and cheeks. So I’m really excited to see if it actually works and can cover up my acne.

Ooh, looks like it’s a little grainy. I feel a little something. It’s not just like, you know, normal foundation. Will it blend in with my hand? Hard to say.

I’ve already put on my moisturizer, so I’m just going to try and treat it with my finger. It just looks like my skin is a little more patchy right now. I don’t think it all looks like a single cohesive color and it’s completely, you know, adjusting to what my skin looks like. It always appears in different colors. You can still see it’s not, it’s not full coverage. It’s just doing a little bit.

I don’t think it fully matches my skin color, so I wouldn’t wear it on my own. But as an under-makeup treatment for my acne, I would probably try it.

Nico: I have worn the Anti-Blemish Camouflage for the past few days just to see how it works as a real acne treatment, and the results have been minimal, but pretty good.

I was afraid to start cracking, because in my mind it looks more like a makeup product than an acne treatment, but I have definitely noticed that some pimples shrink when I use it as a mask by night. . And it even helped me fade some of my dark spots a bit.

And because it gives me a layer between my skin and my mask, I feel like I’ve noticed the maskne hasn’t been that bad lately either. I don’t know if it’s just a coincidence, but it’s getting better.

I think where that isn’t enough is its ability to match nuances. I think if you’re trying to find the right shade for you, especially if you’re a lot fairer than me or have darker skin tone, it has a learning curve that isn’t the easiest to understand.
