Everything you need to know about maskne

Since the start of Covid 19, it has been mandatory for everyone to wear a face mask in order to stay safe. The use of masks was a regular habit for some people such as healthcare professionals but now required in many public places, such as restaurants and grocery stores, as a barrier against the novel coronavirus which is spread through respiratory droplets.

However, if used without thinking, masks can also cause unwanted side effects. If you develop rashes while wearing a mask called Maskna, you are not alone. Maskne (acne mask) is a common side effect of using a mask. From obscured vision and widespread discomfort to skin irritations and restricted airflow, the constant wearing of sheet masks, disposable masks, N-95 masks, and face shields can cause its own streak. of problems.

The most common problem that many people face is acne. It happens when the pores of the skin become clogged with oil, dead skin cells, and dirt, resulting in pimples, whiteheads, or blackheads. The mask is also known to cause rosacea (flushing of the face) which can lead to pimples and redness. The facial skin is very sensitive and people can get allergies due to the material of the mask which can again cause a red rash as well as irritation and blistering. Regular use of mas can also cause folliculitis. This is an infection of your hair follicles that causes bumps and looks like an acne breakout. You might also feel itchy or sore.

Apart from this, you might also experience difficulty in breathing normally, discomfort and pain in the ears due to the mask strap.

It is important to take good care of our skin in order to control and prevent this type of acne mask.

1. Use mild cleansers with a pH that are gentle on the skin. Excessive use of skin cleansers can induce changes in skin surface pH and microflora, negatively leading to acne

2. Use a pH balanced moisturizer that is not too greasy and preferably in lotion form.

3. Oil and makeup clog pores and cause pus-forming acne many times

4. Allergic friction dermatitis.

Use an appropriate max that suits your face and provides good protection. Be sure to clean or change your mask after each use. Careful mask selection will confirm that if the mask is too tight, the strap buckles can cause friction burns to the back of your ears.

5. Try not to wear a mask for too long continuously. Whether at home or not in a crowd, try to take a break every 4 hours after the mask and expose the skin to fresh air.
