“I swear by this cult moisturizer to make my dry, acne-prone skin shine”

There is a fine line between a glowing complexion and an oily complexion – it’s the eternal struggle in the quest for a healthy, natural glow lit from within. Add in the fact that our skin is constantly changing with stress, hormones, age, and our environment, and it can be difficult to sift through the massive amount of products on the market.

Throughout my teenage years, my goal was to avoid moisturizers, lest they over-hydrate my super oily, acne-prone skin. Now that my skin has taken a total of 180 in my 20s, I’m constantly on the lookout for nourishing and luminous products to make my dry, acne-prone skin bright and healthy. One of the product recommendations I received was Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Moisturizer ($ 32, Séphora).

As a beauty addict, I had heard influencers, beauty gurus, and editors raving about the product for years, but ignored them. (As a Southeast Asian, I have a lot of trust issues with over-publicized skin care products.) I have tried all the serums, oils, masks, and toners on the market with little to no results. , until I finally gave in and tried Kiehl’s Moisturizer. I am grateful to say that I was totally wrong about this.

Here’s why I’ve sworn by the cult face cream for the past four years:

It provides a non-greasy shine.

I have dry, parched skin that will absorb almost anything I put on it. But unfortunately, some moisturizers will leave my skin oily and pores clogged. I was a little nervous when I first dipped my finger into the rich, creamy formula of this moisturizer, but it blends seamlessly into my skin without any oily residue. I even love massaging the remaining product into my neck and hands.

I have a lot of acne scars and pigmentation (which I’m prone to as a woman of color), and this moisturizer gives my skin the most gorgeous glow – I’ve gifted it to tons of members of my family over the years, and they have been extremely grateful.

It is safe to use 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.

Due to its particularly light but nourishing formula, the moisturizer can also be used safely during the day. or the night. When I wear it at night, I mix a little oil with the moisturizer to wake up with a more radiant complexion. At first I was a little nervous about wearing it during the day, but once again luckily I was wrong. It provides just enough nourishment to leave my skin with a healthy glow that shines through with or without layered makeup.

For this reason, it has become a staple in my skincare routine all year round. I usually change the products I use every season, but this one even manages to keep my skin from getting oily on hot, sweaty summer days.

It also works for acne-prone skin.

Moisturizers can often clog pores, but they don’t. I have acne-prone skin, and it actually soothes any rashes I might encounter, especially the hormonal acne I have along my jawline around my period. I attribute this to the large amount of avocado oil in the formula (yes, the beloved fruit is not just good on toast). The vitamin E-rich ingredient is packed with healthy, moisturizing fatty acids that make the skin shine, but it won’t clog pores or cause rashes.

At $ 32, it’s not exactly a cheap product. But, it’s packed with superstar skin care ingredients like squalane, glycerine, and almond oil (Just to name a few). If price is still an issue, start with the travel size option. A little goes a long way with this, so even that should last you to less some months.
