Nutritionist Pooja Makhija brought us another simple solution regarding health issues. According to her, an apple can solve the problem of diarrhea and can also treat constipation. This is because apples contain two types of fiber that can help treat these health problems: soluble and insoluble fiber. If you’ve ever wondered whether to eat or avoid apples during constipation, here’s the answer for you.

In an Instagram post, Pooja Makhija said that apples are made up of 64% insoluble fiber and 36% soluble fiber. These two kinds of fibers are unevenly distributed in the fruit. While the pulp mainly contains soluble fiber, the skin of an apple is rich in insoluble fiber.

The nutritionist added: “The soluble substance (fiber) is what forms a gelatinous consistency in your stool and therefore slows down digestion.” The flesh or pulp of the fruit plays a major role in this. Therefore, if you are suffering from diarrhea, apple pulp without the skin will help cure the disease.

The skin of apples contains insoluble fiber, which “increases the bulk of the stool.” Hence, it facilitates the rapid passage of stool through the intestines. In this way, eating apple peel helps relieve constipation.

Pooja Makhija often shares nutritional tips with her followers. Earlier, she shared the differences between olive oil and coconut oil. While both are good, they should be taken in limited amounts. Olive oil is high in monounsaturated fat while coconut oil is higher in saturated fat. What you choose depends on what you want from the oil.

She suggested that teenage acne can be resolved by limiting the intake of vitamin D and foods high in lactose. Increasing protein intake and physical movement can also help reduce acne.
