You probably already know that aloe vera is a succulent, and to say it’s extremely nutritious is an understatement. It has been used for quite some time, dating back to the days of ancient Egypt, for its many amazing qualities. Aloe vera gel is commonly used externally to soothe and treat burns and sunburn, general itching, and even eczema. Aloe vera juice is consumed for its nutritional value, and studies have proven that consuming this juice provides numerous health benefits. It’s no surprise, because it’s packed with vitamins A, C, E, B1, B2, B3, B6, and B12. Three of these vitamins – A, C, and E – are antioxidants, which can help prevent heart disease, cancer, and more. One of the most liked viral videos on TikTok, which raves about the benefits of aloe vera juice, has received over 958,000 likes and 5.3 million views. Posted by TikToker Bria Lemirande (@brialem), the video shows so much praise and love for aloe vera juice. Lemirande takes a dose (one ounce) of juice in the morning and another in the evening, and says, “I don’t have a beauty filter on at the moment, and my skin really broke out last week, and it’s cleared up a ton since then. And also, my digestive system, like my gut health, has never been better, never better.” (Lemirande notes, however, “Just a small announcement: lots of people said it’s not safe for pregnant women!”)
The post received a ton of notable comments such as “Best thing for acid reflux, I put my life into it” and “My dad drinks it [every day] and it literally cured her psoriasis.” TikTokers also added that Lemirande’s skin is “amazing” and “glows.”
Another TikToker @munch.with.momo tried the viral trend after watching Lemirande’s video and wanted to see if aloe vera juice would help him with his acne and psoriasis. After two weeks of consuming the juice, the TikToker notes that her skin has “cleared up” and is ultra plump and soft. “I really love the results,” she says. “Like my jaw here has been the softest in maybe years. That’s an issue for me. And also my gut health, my gut health is *chef’s kiss*…my bloating, I’m not bloating there – low, as I wake up feeling that you know thinner.”
According to Health line, you can also use aloe topically as an overnight spot treatment to target pimples directly. Or lather it on your face instead of a cleanser to increase blood flow to your skin and ward off bad bacteria. It can also be used to treat and lighten acne scars.
You can buy aloe vera juice just about anywhere, including The Vitamin Shoppe, Walmart, Whole Foods, GNC, and Amazon. But did you know that you can also grow your own aloe plants at home?
