Pimple inside your nose? Here is what to do

I I thought acne was something I would get past, like knowing all the lyrics from Evanescence’s debut album or a tendency to succumb to boredom. But many years later, all of those things are still here – and it turns out that at least one of them can be explained. You can get acne at just about any age, and acne is the most common skin condition in America. That’s all to say, I’ve had enough experience with rashes that I know what to do when a pimple pops up (yay?), But there’s one type of pimple that always baffles me – the pimple that pops up. inside the nose. So I asked dermatologist Mona Gohara, MD to share her knowledge on why these internal nose pimples occur and how to get rid of them.

A pimple inside your nose can be similar to rashes on your face and body, says Dr. Gohara. Rashes on the face and body can occur due to a variety of factors including hormones, stress, and not washing your face before going to bed. Acne that can appear inside your nose is more likely to be a pustule or cyst than a whitehead or blackhead. (Here’s a reminder on the different types of acne.) If so, then Dr. Gohara says it can be treated with typical acne remedies like salicylic acid and peroxide wipes and cleansers. of benzoyl.

“More nerve endings and more sensitive skin”, are two reasons why you can find these pimples inside the nose so much more painful than pimples on, say, your butt, says Dr. Gohara. But, often the bumps inside your nose can be caused by an infection, she says, which also makes the area more sensitive.

Yes, a painful lump inside your nose could also be from a bacterial infection, such as a staph infection, says Dr. Gohara. “If it is an infection, it is often from your fingernails,

picking the nose, ”she said. “Then wash your hands. And since bacterial infections inside the nose can often be mistaken for a regular pimple, she also recommends seeing your dermatologist to rule out infection.
