Awaken Peptide Eye Gel

There are very few eye creams I’ve tried that give immediate results and actually reduce puffiness and puffiness under the eyes, but Dermalogica’s new Caffeine Peptide Eye Gel does just that. I slicked it all around my eyes in the morning when the area looked particularly tired and couldn’t believe the instant smoothing and depuffing effect. My eyes looked noticeably better and now it’s my favorite in the mornings after I haven’t slept much or when my eyes are irritated. Magic!

Revolutionary bathtub drain protector/hair catcher

This little thing saved me so much angst! One of my 17 year old boys is channeling a hippie lifestyle with his hair almost to his waist. Needless to say, the shower drain suffers because of this. But the TubShroom came to my rescue! It grabs all of her extra long hair for easy removal so I can avoid using harmful chemicals or expensive plumber visits to unclog the tub drain. …And now we are a happier family!

Moisturizing Lip Treatment

This lip care is a must for the cold season. Its formula is packed with nourishing ingredients like peptides, avocado oil, collagen, squalane, and vitamin E. As soon as I apply this product to my lips, it immediately soothes and repairs my dry, chapped skin. It really is the best!

walk calmly

I’m so excited to share this book we’ve been working on for Prevention! We are such a fan of walking here because it’s good for body and soul. The 101 Guided Wellness Walks were created by Jennifer Walsh, who always finds something new and wonderful to celebrate in walking. There’s also a walking diary in this lovely volume, so you can track when and where you walk, as well as how you feel. It is a must for lovers of walking.

Peanut butter and jelly peanuts

Nuts are my favorite snack, and when I crave something sweet, it’s even better if they’re covered in chocolate. But the coating is almost always too much thick, which means I’m eating a lot more sugar than I want or need, so I feel like I’m taking away any health benefits from the nuts. That’s why I danced happily when I saw that SkinnyDipped had a range of chocolate covered nuts and other things that are coated in a thin layer, so you get the sweet taste without too much sugar .

I loved their Cocoa, Almond, and Milk Chocolate Peanuts, but my favorite right now is the Peanut Butter and Jelly Peanuts… crunchy Virginia peanuts with a thin coating slightly strawberry tart. One ounce contains only five grams of added sugar and nothing artificial. I couldn’t find any similar strawberry nut products, so for a comparison, check out the Lean Dipped Dark Chocolate Almonds, which have only six grams of sugar per ounce (about 16 nuts); Hershey’s Brookside has 17g for just 10 nuts. I’m too busy snacking to do the math, but you can see it’s not a contest.

Gold patches under the eyes

When I first got my hands on them I thought they were just pretty. But it turns out that they are also miracle workers. Yes, the gold foil outer layer looks super luxurious, but the hyaluronic acid-filled bottom really does wonders. I’ve incorporated them into my Sunday self-care routine and I have to say I can see a difference. My eyes are brighter, my skin feels super hydrated and doesn’t irritate my sensitive skin. Win-win!

Soft Pressure Sleep Mask

As someone who has trouble falling asleep, I was looking for a way to get better rest. Weighted blankets were my favorite when I was on the east coast, but since moving to an island I couldn’t travel with my blanket anymore. So I decided to invest in this weighted eye mask, and it was a game changer for my sleep and anxiety. The sleep mask provides gentle pressure that helps relieve tension and block out light. I put it on before bed or when traveling, and it really helps me focus on myself to rest better.

Triple-C Brightening Rebound Cream

I recently tested this new face cream as a daytime moisturizer and can’t wait to apply it, thanks to its plush, whipped texture and delicious cherry-citrus scent. Such a great pick-me-up for cold winter mornings! Vitamin C can sometimes irritate my sensitive skin, but it didn’t cause any inflammation. Over time, I noticed my skin was more even and clearer.

9

Extreme De-Tox Hydrator Cucumber Gel Mask

These freezing winter months have not been kind to my dry skin. Despite overnight hydration, I often wake up with a parched complexion dotted with red patches. Fortunately, this mask comes to my rescue every time. A few minutes after application, my skin is soothed, balanced and rehydrated, and most redness has diminished. Honestly, I don’t know what I would do without her.

Cicaplast Balm B5

This all-purpose cream is truly a dry skin superhero. I started using this cream during a course of Accutane, which severely dries and dehydrates the skin. Now that I’m trying Retin-A, I’m back to my real skin saver. I apply a small amount directly after my usual moisturizer, and my skin feels like it just drank a big glass of water! Take this holy grail moisturizer to soothe any dryness or irritation your skin may be feeling.

Hudson Joggers

These pants are so comfortable whether you’re doing yoga, weight lifting, or just lounging around the house. On a cold ski day, I’ll even add them as an extra layer between my leggings and my snow pants. I have long legs so they don’t go all the way to my ankles (which I like). The most surprising aspect of these joggers, however, is the waistband, it’s wide so it stays in place without digging in. I need it in more colors!

Dark chocolate granola

You may know the Alter Eco company for their incredible dark chocolate. Recently the company has branched out into great healthy granolas. And yes, one of the flavor choices is chocolate! The other two I’ve tried are Cinnamon Raisins and Cashew Butter, and all three are super tasty. Granola tends to be loaded with sugar, but these are sweetened with monkfruit, with four to six grams, and none of that is added sugar. Plus, it’s certified organic, with no additives. The company is green and clean: it uses small fair trade farmers and pays attention to packaging and waste. A delicacy that makes you feel good!

Cedar Glass Candle

With young children at home, I stopped lighting candles for a little while lest they knock them over, forget to put them out, all that stuff. But this candle from Jenni Kayne reminded me why I love lighting candles in the first place. The cozy scent is perfect for the winter months; it is warm yet romantic, with notes of rose, tobacco leaf, fir needle and cedar wood. Although I may not have a fireplace to warm myself to, lighting this candle is the best thing to do.

Filtered bottle

When I first heard of the LARQ water bottle, I thought it would just be another water bottle, but I’m so obsessed with it! There is a filter inside the straw, so I can refill it anywhere and anytime for clean water. The water itself tastes so crisp and the straw is really comfortable and transparent to drink even though it filters every sip. I also like that it’s lightweight so I can take it with me, and the included carabiner is great for carrying it around or attaching it to a backpack. Also, I feel like I’m drinking a lot more water than when I just had a glass next to me. I can’t recommend it enough!
