Soft Services Wants To Change Your Body’s Acne Routine | Exclusive interview

Humans contain multitudes, which is one of the reasons so many skincare enthusiasts have a multi-step, twice-daily routine for their face … but barely remember to use a moisturizer for the body. While working at Glossier during the early days of the beloved beauty brand, Software services founders Rebecca zhou and Annie kreighbaum looked at as shoppers connected to the physical (and emotional) power of a facial skincare routine. However, as Kreighbaum used his beauty editor skills to solve his facial skin issues, and Zhou helped build the e-commerce platform that turned reviewers into customers, they felt he something was missing from the body category.

“During my entire career, nearly 10 years as a beauty editor, I have noticed articles that have gone gangbustered. [on Into The Gloss] were the ones that focused on niche body issues that no one else was talking about, ”says Kreighbaum Seduce. “Why are we 30 years old and still suffering from body acne? My face looks great, but I could never really hack my body like I had my face.

Zhou felt the same, and the couple followed a very 2021 path, removing their work-based friendship from the office before transforming into freelance collaborators who later became founders of the brand together. With the official launch today of Soft Services, a body care company that targets specific skin problems, such as keratosis pilaris and body acne.

These days, keratosis pilaris (aka KP) is a popular skin topic, possibly because a 40 percent of adults dealing with so-called “chicken skin”. Certified dermatologist Doris Day previously defined skin condition for Seduce like “a buildup of keratin – a hair protein – in the pores that clogs and blocks the opening of growing hair follicles. As a result, small bumps form where the hair should be.” KP typically appears on the upper arms, thighs, buttocks, or even the outer cheeks of the face.

Treatment for KP typically involves encouraging cell turnover with exfoliation and hydration, which is exactly what Soft Services’ first products – the Smoothing solution ($ 34), a soothing exfoliating gel; the Carea Cream ($ 40), a body lotion; and the Polishing bar ($ 28), a portable exfoliating scrubber – the intention to tackle. “The theme of the first three products is smooth skin,” Kreighbaum reveals.
